Fitness is not always about loosing weight. There are many people who go into fitness because they actually want to gain weight so I believe that this post will help you if are trying to lose weight as well those who want to gain weight as well. What is important here is to remember that a high caloric diet will most likely increase your weight and vice versa.

Surprising foods that can increase your weight!

1. Fruit- High sugar content can increase sugar levels. Our problem today is sugar.

2. Nuts- Nuts are great source of fats., but fat has more than twice as many calories per gram as carbohydrates and proteins. Click here to learn more.

3. Yogurt - Yogurt is saturated with all kinds of sugars, watch out! The trick is to pick plain options and add some fruits or a natural sweetener in it, such as honey, that way you are in control.

4. Protein Powders and Bars: The are saturated with things you do not need including sugar! I lost 10 healthy pounds when I decided to get off protein supplements and take my proteins from meats and sea foods. You don't need it unless you need it!

5. Sweet Potatoes: Sugar again. Sweet potatoes are very good for you, just make sure you are not having too much! Sweet potato pie is not healthy!

6. Cereal (especially the diet kinds): Cereal is easy and convenient but they can be extremely unhealthy!! Many cereals are processed and packed with sugar. Please watch out for these especially the weight loss brands! They just want to get your money. I know mornings are difficult, especially when you have to pack up for work. Instead of cereal, boil an egg while taking your shower and have it with a slice of avocado and whole wheat bread. It is probably higher in calories, but it will give you more energy throughout the day. If you are a die hard cereal fan and don't want to give it up, just make sure you can identify the ingredients. It can be helpful to use a measuring cup because when it comes to cereal, servings really matters.

Other foods that are not so bad, but you should watch out for are:

7. Instant oatmeal- Sugar, sugar, sugar.

8. Peanut butter: Sugar and so many things you don't need. Watch out for the brand and also, please do not buy fat free peanut butter! (Click here for an ingredient sample.)

10. Smoothies: This is so tricky and my guilty food! Smoothie stores claim to be healthy, but all they really care is to satisfy your taste buds and to keep you coming back! Smoothies are packed with syrup and sugar or Splenda (not fruit sugar) which is why it tastes better than what you make at home!

11. Veggie Chips: Unnecessary calories for the serving size (that's my opinion.) Packed with things you really don't need!

12. Juice: Oh boy, I am a victim, but if it is not 100% from fruit then it is crap! Orange juice is great, Sunny D is not very sunny so watch out!

13. Coke Zero: Just don't drink it. If you crave a Coke, drink a Coke, just not every week. (Do not make it a habit to drink sweet drinks; water or lightly sweetened tea can be a great substitute.)

14. Sugar-free and fat-free products: Some things should be fat free, others should not! You need your macros from the right sources! Sugar-free and fat-free products can be a marketing scheme to get your attention. They are also expensive and are packed with Splenda and other things that are actually detrimental to your health!
