Beat the Stress, Don't Let It Beat You.

Updated: Jan 15, 2020

Oh, man. Another day wasted. It was your rest day from the gym, but you still had responsibilities at home. You let your body rest, but what about your mind? You kept stressing so much about all of the things that you have to do, that you actually got none of it done.

I do not own the rights this image.

Your mind needs just as much care as your body. Whether it's a quick 5 minute meditation or a whole day of relaxation, make sure to include some time for some self care. It doesn't have to be much; you can take a quick nap at noon, or take a day and unplug yourself from your phone. You can soak yourself in a hot bath with some lavender scented Epsom salt while the relaxing scent of lavender calms you and eases your mind. (Tip: Soaking in Epsom salt can help with those sore muscles.)

While there will always be stress, there are a few things that you can do to limit it. If you stress over money management, download some apps to help with your finances. ( Mint, Acorns, or your bank's app.) If you have a busy schedule, get a planner to remember important dates and events. (You can check out Target, Staples, Marshalls, Ross, or Amazon.) Pick up a hobby, such as painting, journaling, hiking, or yoga. If you are not a fan of the gym, you can pick up a sport, like kickboxing, which is good for cardio and strength.

Whatever your schedule is, remind yourself to just take a breather. We tend to stress ourselves out more than we should, especially when we overthink things or overwhelm ourselves. We are amazing, but sometimes, we just need to unwind.
